The mission of Santa Clara Adult Education is to empower adults of all ages and abilities to succeed in an ever-changing world.
Message from the Directors
Dear Community Members,
If you have been on the Wilson campus lately, you have probably noticed that the front office has been torn down and a new office is under way. As we watched the walls crumble, it was with great emotion that we realized this building was much more to us than the brick and mortar that has held it together all these years.
From this building, we have served our district and community by welcoming students of all ages and abilities and from all over the world. For the last 34 years we have taught English to immigrants and refugees from over 68 different countries, graduated hundreds of students who needed a second chance to get a diploma or GED, and trained the homeless and the less fortunate in job skills. We have taught life skills to students with different abilities, prepared parents for the challenging job of child rearing, and enriched the lives of older adults by keeping them physically and mentally active. We have provided a program for stroke survivors to revive a life thought lost to such a debilitating disease. We have taught yoga, fencing, office skills training, A+ certification preparation, medical assisting, forklift training, resume writing, and hundreds of other diverse classes too many to mention.
Like the statue of liberty, our office has been standing as an image of hope to all who entered its doors.
We are indeed grateful to this community for a renovated campus supported by Measure J. There is great hope for adult students in the future, as after five years of devastating budget cuts, we look forward in 2015-16 to dedicated, Adult Education funding from the state.
Hope to see you in class!
