Santa Clara Unified School District’s mission is to “prepare students of all ages and abilities to succeed in an ever-changing world.” Certainly, our adult education program plays a vital role in our mission. In addition to educating our K-12 student population, this District has a long history of commitment to educate the broader community, thus supporting and enhancing the work we do with our future citizens.
The recent State budget cuts have resulted in cataclysmic reductions in adult education programs throughout California. In fact, many districts have entirely eliminated adult education in an effort to remain financially solvent. We’re fortunate in Santa Clara Unified; our adult education program has survived, but on a very tight shoestring. We’ve enacted drastic cuts to adult education, but we remain committed to provide those services we sustain through fees, grants, and the district funds we can still allocate to adult education. We’ve preserved adult education with the hope that in the future, when there’s a brighter budget picture, we can bring back and enhance what still remains today as an outstanding adult education program.
I hope you will take advantage of our adult education classes. Whether you’re taking a class to complete your education, prepare for a job, enhance your skills, or simply improve your quality of life, Santa Clara Unified School District welcomes you and congratulates you as you remain on the path of life-long learning!
