The mission of Santa Clara Adult Education is to empower adults of all ages and abilities to succeed in an ever-changing world.
Message from the Directors
Dear Community Members,
Over the last two years we have been keeping you informed of
the financially turbulent path on which adult education has been
traveling. After draconian cuts to most adult schools in 2009, funds
are being reinstated in the 2015-16 school year in the form of a block
grant. The legislature and the Governor have asked adult schools
and community colleges throughout the state to form Consortiums
in order to create plans to serve students more efficiently. As part of
the South Bay Consortium for Adult Education (SBCAE), along with
members from other regional adult schools, community colleges
and community partners, we have submitted a plan for funding to
the California State Department of Education. This plan focuses on
developing greater alignment between the institutions, creating
pathways for students to college and/or careers, and providing
transitional support to the students in the following programs areas:
Adult Basic Skills, English as a Second Language, High School
Diploma, High School Equivalency, Adults with Disabilities and
Career Technical Education.
Santa Clara Adult Education is proud to be working with other adult
schools and community college districts to build new opportunities
for the adult learners in our region. We encourage you to visit
the SBCAE.org website to learn more about the exciting new
direction of adult education in your community.
