Santa Clara Adult Education offers career training programs in Medical Assisting and Child Development that provide students with the skills they need for 21st-century labor market demands.
Our classes are taught by industry professionals. The classes can be taken individually to meet personal goals; some can be taken in sequence towards a program certificate or permit.
Medical Assistant
Join our Medical Assistant Training Program, one of the fastest growing career fields in the United States, and become proficient in Front and Back Office skills! The program includes 375 hours of classroom instruction and a placement at a clinic or doctor’s office for 160 hours of externship. National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Certified Medical Assistant exam is available at the conclusion of class for an additional cost.
Morning Program:

Medical Interpreter Training
Join this 40-hour, hybrid course is designed for individuals aspiring to become medical interpreters and provides a comprehensive training program to equips them for rolls in medical and healthcare environments.

English for Childcare
This FREE high-beginning level course develops oral and written communication skills in English within the context of child care and parenting. Students develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills for communicating about a child’s health and safety.
Books will be provided.
Students will need to register for Mission College and Santa Clara Adult Education.
English for Careers in Healthcare
This FREE course develops oral and written English language skills to identify, describe, and support working in the healthcare field. (Noncredit course – not degree applicable). Books will be provided to borrow.
Students will need to register in West Valley and Santa Clara Adult Education.
Child Development Class
This FREE course is a study of typical and atypical child growth and development in the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language development from conception through adolescence. There is an emphasis on interactions between maturational processes and environmental factors within the family, cultural, and societal context. Students observe children using investigative research methods, evaluate differences, and analyze characteristics of development at various stages. Books will be provided.
Students will need to register for Mission College and Santa Clara Adult Education.
